Astral travel or out-of-body experiences (OBE) is usually understood to mean consciously leaving one's own living body. During an out of body experience, your own spirit detaches itself from the body, which enables you to experience life again from a completely immaterial perspective. An out of body experience ultimately leads to us finding ourselves in a form of pure consciousness, one is not linked to space and time and as a result can travel across the entire universe. What is special in this context is your own non-physical state, which you experience during an out of body experience. You are then invisible to outside observers and can reach any place within a very short time. Places that one imagines in such a form of being become immediately manifest and one can move through walls or other obstacles due to the subtle state.

Every human being has the ability to travel astrally. Basically, it even looks as if one's own astral body commits out of body experiences almost every night. The only difference is that these nocturnal wanderings are not consciously perceived by most people. Such astral journeys mostly take place in silence and it takes a lot to become aware of these nocturnal journeys again. Nevertheless, there are people who have a high level of sensitivity in this regard and fully experience all the nocturnal hikes. At this point, however, it should be said that every human being has the potential to consciously practice out of body experience. In this context, there are various possibilities for putting such a project back into practice. I will present one possibility of this in the following section. This is a rough guide to experiencing an out of body experience:

Lie down comfortably and cover your body well so you don't get cold during the exercise.
1. Relaxation: This includes both physical and mental relaxation. It can be brought about in various ways. Some suggestions: autogenic training, meditation, progressive muscle relaxation.
2. Hypnagogic State: After a while you will start seeing different shapes and colors. This is the hypnagogic state. Just watch these images passively, don't try to control the images.
3. Deepening: The state must now be deepened until one has no more awareness of the body. You can do this if you simply remain passive and look through your closed eyelids into the black or into the hypnagogic images.
4. Vibration state: Now you get into the vibrational state. It is characterized by various sensations, which may be strange at first: vibrations in the body, tingling, numbness, heaviness, noise. These perceptions are all harmless and can be easily accepted. Keep calm and let the vibrations spread. To cancel you just have to move your body.
5. Checking the state of vibration: Concentrate on the vibrations and let them move back and forth in your body. Move the vibrations from head to toe. The vibrations should become more intense.
6. Preparation for leaving: Imagine yourself leaving your body. You now have the sensation of a "second" or astral body. Begin by moving an arm or a leg of this astral body. For example, you can touch the wall next to you and reach through it.
7. Leaving the body: There are two ways to do this: First, imagine yourself getting lighter and floating out of your body. Second, rotate out of your body. You can imagine that there is a second body outside of you, into which you turn. Try both and do what works better for you. Both ways work.
You are now out of your body and at the beginning of your out of body experience. Explore this new way of being and just do what you like. The possibilities are unlimited! To return you can find your body lying in bed and move it. Otherwise your out of body experience will end on its own after a while and you will return to your body.
