With today's energy on January 01, 2025, we are experiencing the influences of the newly begun year, at least if we are speaking of the official new year, because, as already mentioned in previous articles, the true new year is always ushered in on March 21st at the spring equinox. This first annual solar festival marks the point at which winter is completely over, and we enter the energy of flourishing. and parallel to this, the zodiac sign cycle with the change of the sun into the zodiac sign Aries (Previously fish – from the end to the new beginning) begins anew. Nevertheless, we now experience the spiritual precursor of the true New Year, and accordingly, new qualities of energy affect us.

The true New Year

Before I delve into the new overarching energy qualities, I'd like to explain why these qualities are already having an effect beforehand. Around New Year's Eve, everyone is focused on the beginning of a new year. A strong energy of new beginnings prevails in the collective mind, because everyone carries the energy of a new year within their thoughts and mental orientation. For this reason, we also experience a certain energy of new beginnings, because the collective vibrates at such a frequency. Of course, we are still in the depths of winter and the twelve days of Christmas, meaning that, purely from a natural cycle perspective, an energetic state of retreat and reflection prevails. Celebrating the end of December with a lot of noise and a general sense of new beginnings is therefore in no way in line with natural rhythms and cycles. Nevertheless, the collective manifests an energy of new beginnings because thoughts are precisely directed towards it.an energetic chaosTherefore, the energy qualities now being discussed will already be having an effect. Above all, the ruling planet plays a major role here. Each year is under the influence of a ruling planet, which in turn imparts a fundamental frequency to that year. The year 2025, for example, was a Venus year. Relationships, love, inner values, and enjoyment could be emphasized. In particular, our own self-worth and, above all, the healing of our own heart issues were paramount. On the other hand, energies of complacency, stagnation, conflict avoidance, and excessive consumption could also manifest.

The Year of Mercury

This year, Mercury is once again the ruling planet. This brings us a completely different quality, as Mercury is always associated with an energy of movement, change, and intellectual activity. Mercury also represents communication (our throat chakra), self-expression, knowledge, curiosity, and language. In such a year, our inner world longs to be expressed through words, which is why we want to unburden ourselves rather than keep unresolved issues to ourselves. On the other hand, as already mentioned, self-expression is paramount in Mercury's energy, and this aspect will play a very significant role this year. It's about showing ourselves, communicating with the world, and sharing our inner world. This can and will manifest primarily in increased social media activity, and we will see many new people drawing attention to various injustices and/or illusions of the Matrix. Accordingly, the year will fully encourage us to take this path instead of remaining discreet or even hidden. Whether through extensive interpersonal conversations, videos, or even books, Mercury's energy will elevate our self-expression to a new level. Furthermore, Mercury can also bring a certain diplomatic energy. This can manifest in world events and influence global processes. Mercury represents mediation, negotiation, and the exchange between different positions. This can lead to a greater willingness, on a collective level, to talk to one another, negotiate solutions, and build bridges, instead of remaining solely in confrontation. However, this can also swing to the opposite extreme, and we could then experience a flood of propaganda or the spread of disinformation—on an even larger scale. As mentioned, words, knowledge, and language will be at the forefront this year and will be experienced in either a positive or a negative way.

The energy of one

Now, aside from the Mercury year, the year also carries the energy of the number one. 2025 was a nine-year, which is why it symbolically represented completion, fulfillment, letting go, and the end of old chapters. Many processes were brought to a close during this phase, truths needed to be recognized, and structures that were no longer sustainable had to go. For many, this time was associated with inner clarification, farewells, and a certain heaviness, even though it was necessary to create space for something new. The now-beginning one-year, in turn, is accompanied by a completely opposite fundamental quality. A one-year generally marks the beginning of a new cycle, that is, the moment of birth, of a new beginning, and of the first conscious steps in a new direction. While the nine-year had a strong inward focus and compelled reflection (which I also experienced very strongly in my personal life), the energy is now directed forward. It's no longer about processing the past, but about setting new impulses, making decisions, and taking responsibility for one's own path. This energy will also be clearly noticeable on a collective level. The field is geared towards new beginnings, departures, independence, and the establishment of new foundations. The Year 1 calls upon us to act from inner clarity and to move forward courageously. Everything initiated now carries the seed for the years to come. It is therefore a time in which awareness, alignment, and inner determination play a particularly important role, because the first step determines the direction of the entire new cycle. Together with the energy of Mercury, this creates a powerful mix that will bring collective truths more forcefully to the surface, accelerate awareness, and drive developments aimed at clarity, insight, and inevitable revelation.

Year of the Fire Horse

Finally, I'd like to address the Chinese zodiac, as a major shift is also taking place there (to be precise, on February 17th), as we leave the Year of the Wood Snake and enter the Year of the Fire Horse. The Year of the Wood Snake was characterized by inner processes, quiet transformation, withdrawal, and profound insight (which, incidentally, perfectly aligned with the energy of the number 9 and Venus). Much was at work in the shadows; issues needed to be understood, explored, and internally reordered. Growth was rather gradual, deliberate, and with a strong focus on awareness, analysis, and inner alignment. However, with the Year of the Fire Horse, this quality will completely transform, becoming its opposite. The previously inward-directed, discerning energy will turn into a powerful, outward-driving quality—the energy of fire, or manifestation, will take center stage. A strong acceleration will manifest, while themes such as freedom, forward momentum, and uncompromising implementation will shape our minds. What was prepared, recognized, or inwardly matured during the Year of the Wood Snake now presses for expression and manifestation. On a collective level, this transition can feel like a sudden jolt. Decisions are made more quickly, processes accelerate, and stagnation is barely tolerated. The Fire Horse tolerates no half-measures—it demands clarity, courage, and the willingness to consistently follow one's own path. Insights now want to be lived, truth wants to create movement, and the inner fire demands to become visible. Ultimately, the Fire Horse energy harmonizes perfectly with the Mercury and Year One qualities in this respect. 2026 will be entirely dedicated to implementation, manifestation, and visibility. The year is therefore ideally suited to initiating major changes, and in all likelihood, we will experience corresponding changes in world events. The Mercury-Fire unity energy can generate great upheavals, and we can be excited to see what will emerge from this concentrated power.
